Sairento VR, Cyberpunk Shooter Set In Future Japan Launches On Steam

(Last Updated On: February 11, 2018)

It should go without saying that a lot of VR games are pretty crappy. They oftentimes have poor controls, or poor resolution, or poor gameplay, or limited gameplay, or are quite repetitive. Very few VR titles actually seem fun to play. Well, Mixed Realms Pte Ltd., recently released the full version of Sairento VR for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

The game is set in the far future in a cyberpunk Japanese society where you take on the role of a female cyber ninja who must hack, slash, and shoot through an army of of enemies. You’ll have dual katanas, Uzis, pistols, bows, glaives and other weapons at your disposal as you make your way through the levels.

Unlike other VR games out there, you’ll have a complete locomotion suite at your disposal where you can walk, run, or leap with bullet-time effects to kill your opponents. What makes the game somewhat entertaining from a spectator’s perspective is that you can dismember your foes similar to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance or blow their brain matter to bits with a well placed headshot, as depicted in the launch trailer below.

It’s really, really hard to get a feel for what this game is like or how you can play, but the comparison to Metal Gear Rising is not just throwing a name out there just to be throwing a name out there. You can literally zipcord around, hacking, slashing, and slicing guys to pieces in the most dynamic and cinematically satisfying way that you can’t really do in a lot of other games out there.

In fact, Mixed Realms specifically designed Sairento to be played in VR but spectated in third-person. Yes, you can play in first-person but record all the action in third-person. This allows people who are watching the game to see what it all looks like from a more dynamic perspective, as depicted in the video below from YouTuber Sexcopter Rul.

I have to admit that the game looks like it could end up being a ton of fun to play.

Sairento VR was originally in Early Access during the majority of its development, but now that it’s out you can pick up a digital copy for $29.99. During the first week of release it’s also discounted by 15% off, so you can get it for only $25.49. You can learn more by visiting the Steam store page.
